The Step into Teaching Scholarship program is aimed at increasing and influencing the future supply of high-quality, secondary Mathematics B and C, Physics, and Chemistry teachers available for appointment to the department and entering the teaching profession. These scholarships are available to high-achieving tertiary science, maths and engineering graduates who are interested in becoming senior Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics teachers in Queensland state schools.

Applicants must hold a relevant tertiary qualification and be undertaking a one-year Graduate Diploma in Education (or equivalent, approved pre-service teacher education program) during 2011.

Scholarship recipients will receive generous financial study assistance ($10,000) and the opportunity to obtain valuable experience and permanent employment in a supportive rural, remote or regional location after graduation.
