A Taste of Government - (Monday, 21 March 2011, Great Hall Parliament House)

A Taste of Government is an engaging and informative seminar which is hosted annually by the Australian Public Service Commission. It provides an excellent opportunity for graduates to hear the perspectives of two prominent, leading, dynamic and experienced senior public servants. Graduates will gain a valuable insight into the workings of the APS and how it operates in relation to Ministers, Government and in a policy setting. There will be opportunities for graduates to raise questions with the speakers and establish networks with graduates from other departments and agencies.

The Great APS Graduate Debate - (Tuesday, 24 May 2011)

The Great APS Graduate Debate is a lively and informative event, bringing together two teams of five current highly talented graduates to debate a topical and current APS issue. Agencies will select up to four graduates to compete in the audition process with the top ten to represent the 2011 APS graduate cadre live on stage at the Canberra Theatre.

Adam Spencer will be back by popular demand to MC the event.

The Great APS Debate Round 2 – Winning Graduates V’s Secretaries (Tuesday, 2 August 2011)

In 2011, following on from the Great APS Graduate Debate, the winning team will endeavour to outwit Secretaries and Agency Heads of the Australian Public Service. Adam Spencer will MC this entertaining event and a panel of adjudicators comprised of graduates and secretaries will oversee this battle of the minds as our challengers attempt to outsmart and up-stage these senior APS leaders. This is an event that should not be missed!

Candid Reflections from inspiring APS leaders (Early November 2011)

Candid Reflections is a panel-style interview session, where current graduates have the opportunity to hear from three inspirational SES leaders, themselves former graduates, and explore issues, experiences and journeys from their introduction to the APS as graduates to their current roles in the Senior Executive Service. The SES leaders will share their experiences in areas including pathways to success, leadership styles, lessons learnt about being a leader, motivation, challenges faced, building credibility, networking and the expectations of today’s graduates.
