The Department of Education and Training is pleased to announce that applications are now being invited for 2011 Step into Teaching Scholarships.

The Step into Teaching Scholarship program is aimed at increasing and influencing the future supply of high-quality, secondary Mathematics B and C, Physics, and Chemistry teachers available for appointment to the department and entering the teaching profession. 

These scholarships are available to high-achieving tertiary science, maths and engineering graduates who are interested in becoming senior Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics teachers in Queensland state schools. 

Applicants must hold a relevant tertiary qualification and be prepared to undertake a one-year Graduate Diploma in Education (or equivalent, approved pre-service teacher education program) during 2011. 

Scholarship recipients will receive generous financial study assistance ($10,000) and the opportunity to obtain valuable experience and permanent employment in a supportive rural, remote or regional location after graduation.
