Brisbane Catholic Education has released figures showing female teachers outnumbered their male counterparts by more than three to one.
Last month Education Qld revealed a plan to lift the proportion of male teachers in the state system from 28 percent to 35 percent within four years.
In an article written by the Education Reporter of the Courier Mail (2 July 2002), QLD Catholic Education Commissions executive director, Mr McCorley, says teacher salaries have improved and the average male wage across all types of staff in Brisbane Catholic Schools was $49,400.
Mr McCorley also indicated that leadership opportunities have opened up with a shift away from principals to middle and senior managment teams.
Uiversities will be targetted in the recruitment drive, along with employees in other jobs seeking a career change.
