The Fulbright Scholarship Program seeks to promote and increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Australia through two way cultural and educational exchange. Grants are awarded to Australian students, scholars and professionals to study, teach, lecture and conduct research in the United States and to American students and scholars to engage in similar activities in Australia. These grants are awarded each year, through a process of open competition, with grants awarded to individuals selected on the basis of academic excellence, professional qualifications and ambassadorial skills.
