Would you like a career in medicine? And are you planning to, or would be prepared to spend a period as a doctor in a rural or remote community? Then you should be aware of the opportunity offered by the Federal Government through Medical Rural Bonded (MRB) Scholarships. There are 100 MRB Scholarships offered annually, attached to 100 new places in medical schools.

Conditions of the MRB Scholarships include:
  • you must be Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • the scholarship amount for 2003 is $20,950
  • you must agree to practice in rural Australia for 6 years upon completion of basic medical and postgraduate training
  • you need to apply to study medicine through the usual process to be eligible (Universities manage the application and selection process of MRB Scholarships)
